It is almost impossible to not take notice of this fantastically ambitious practice.
The practice was founded in 2020 by Sir David Adjaye OBE, an award-winning Ghanaian-British architect known to infuse his artistic sensibilities and ethos for community-driven projects. His ingenious use of materials, bespoke designs and visionary sensibilities have set him apart as one of the leading architects of his generation. Today Adjaye Associates operates globally, with studios in Accra, London, and New York taking on projects that span the globe.
The firm’s work ranges from private houses, bespoke furniture collections, product design, exhibitions, and temporary pavilions to major arts centres, civic buildings, and master plans. His largest project to date, The National Museum of African American History & Culture in Washington, DC opened on the National Mall in Washington DC in 2016 and was named Cultural Event of the Year by The New York Times.
In 2017, Adjaye was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II and was recognized as one of the 100 most influential people of the year by TIME Magazine. Most recently, Adjaye was announced the winner of the 2021 RIBA Royal Gold Medal. Sir Adjaye is also the recipient of the World Economic Forum’s 27th Annual Crystal Award, which recognizes his “leadership in serving communities, cities and the environment.”
In 2021, Adjaye Associates, was already well adhered to BIM and Revit through the practical application of such process and technology but also from the highly experience in-house BIM Manager. DDC Solutions have had a long ongoing relationship with Adjaye Associates to provide bespoke training to project teams and new starters. When their BIM Manager took maternity leave in early 2021 it was a natural step for DDC Solutions to provide maternity cover and support Adjaye Associates with the BIM process and development.
Adjaye already had a subscription in place and so at this moment it was clear how DDC could step in and provide additional support. Further to this we had built our relationship through assisting Adjaye Associates with supplementary training, ad hoc project support and a fantastic customer service.
Our Gold Subscription Service was the perfect option for Adjaye Associates.
Already being both BIM and Revit capable, their requirement was for seamless support with an experienced BIM management structure without the risk of disruption that can come with new employments and change of staff.
The outcome of this subscription for Adjaye Associates is a solid BIM structure maintained and developed ready for the BIM Manager to seamlessly take over when she returned from maternity leave.
The support and training provided during the subscription has reduced risks for delays and disruptions during events of staff turnover, new project BIM requirements and setup. Our technical and project support has kept the teams informed and up to date with technical issues such as Geo-Coordination and validation processes as well as technical modelling tasks using Revit.
